It might be World Penguin Day, but right now it's a Magpie grabbing the headlines.
At this time of the football season it can be an emotional roller-coaster.

(Sorry Liverpool fans. And Man Utd fans. And Nottingham Forest fans. Actually, pretty much most fans.)

However, occasionally the worlds of haulage and football meet. Very occasionally - we can only think of Graham Hogg who played in SAF first Man Utd game and went on to be a driver - can you tell us any others?!

Here is the tale of Matt Ritchie - currently playing (every now and then) for Newcastle, he has prepared for life after football by gaining his Class 2 licence.

It's a funny old game.

Did we mention it's our 100th birthday this year? And that we've got a huge "4 Kings of the Road" photo competition running?

Of course we did, but to remind you - our 4 Gold trucks are going to be popping up across the country at Truck Shows, Truck Stops, local events - all you need to do is get a selfie with them!

Like and follow our page, send us the selfie, and you will achieve the fame, fortune and glory that only a Brit European photo competition can bring.

Can you collect all 4 and be in with a chance of winning our BIG PRIZE DRAW?!?

Last Sunday we were at @Sandbach Transport Festival which was a great day for all (and lovely weather!) Photos and videos to follow but first...we had the chance to catch up with an "old" friend of Brit European, who not only took some incredible snaps for us, but also agreed to get the competition rolling...Thanks to Alfie from Alfie's trucking photo's for being the first to get his selfie with one of the 4 Kings!

Where will we be next....? You'll have to watch this space and follow the page! Rumour has it that we might be getting a good wash after a few days in the hot sun...

Happy St George's Day! Though recognised as the patron saint of the UK, there are a few things you may not have known about him...

🇹🇷 St George wasn't English. He was born in the 3rd Centrury in Cappodocia (modern day Turkey)

🦾He wasn't a Knight - it's more likely he was an officer in the Roman army.

💀He was a martyr - executed for refusing to make a sacrifice in honour of the pagan gods.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿He never visited England - the St George cross was not used to represent England until the reign of Henry VIII

🐉The dragon came later - the story goes that St George rode into Silene (modern day Libya) to free the city from a dragon who had a taste for humans!

⌚️He was a Saint for 1000 years before the "Holiday". He was canonised in 494 AD by Pope Gelasius but the feast day only came into place in the UK after the Battle of Agincourt in 1415. After the unification of England and Scotland in 1707 the day held less significance - which is why it isn't recognised as a public holiday.

🌎England shares St George as a patron saint with Venice, Genoa, Portugal, Ethiopia and Catalonia - among others.
